The Inaugural “Grip it and Rip it” Bass Fishing Tournament will be held October 19th, 2024 on Lake Paloure, at Doiron’s Landing which is known for its great bass fishing and provides a beautiful backdrop for the tournament.   The tournament fee will be $150.00 a boat, with all veterans fishing for free.  Live well check 0430 boats will launch at 0530 with weigh-ins starting at 1500. Cash Prizes for the top 3 spots and the largest bass. All proceeds go to providing hunting and fishing trips at no cost to Veterans.

  1. Launch at 0530, lines wet at 0600 (first cast) or when safely able to do so. 

  2. Weigh in will be at 1500hrs (3pm). Each boat will be given a button with your team number on it. You will hang that button on the board when you arrive at the launch. That is how you’ll be checked in. If your button is not on the board by 1500hrs, you’ll be penalized 1/2lb every minute you’re late. After 1510hrs, you are disqualified and cannot weigh fish. 

  3. Dead fish penalty is 1/2lb per fish

  4. This is a catch and release tournament. Although we will not strictly enforce it, we highly encourage it. 

  5. Only boundary for the tournament will be the New Highway 90 Amelia Bridge. You cannot cross this boundary or you’ll be disqualified. 

  6. You can fish either side of Doirons. The spillway or the Verrett side. You can trailer and switch sides (Spillway to Verrett or vice versa) anytime during the tournament. You cannot however, leave the area outside of Doirons and launch anywhere else. You can only launch at Doirons either side. 

  7. The whole Doirons canal, carwash canal (from the boat launch to the neighborhood), and any boat launch is off limits at any marina. No grocery shopping for turned loose Bass at any launch. 

  8. Each boat will have their live wells checked prior to launch and a colored piece of tape will be tied to each trolling motor. The tape must stay on for the duration of the tournament. 

  9. All anglers will maintain a 200 yard separation between boats fishing the tournament. An angler can fish the opposite side Bank or pass by as long as the angler who was there initially approves. Don’t be bent rod anglers. Be courteous and respectful of other fisherman. 

  10. No live bait allowed. All fish must be caught with artificial baits only. 

  11. Weigh in will consist of the teams big bass being weighed first, then all 5 fish together. 

  12. In the event of a tie for total weight, big bass between the two will be the tie breaker. 

  13. In the event of a tie for big bass, total bag weight of all 5 fish will be the tie breaker.

  14. No one is allowed to fish 

  any canals with posted signs or private property. Anyone caught doing so will be disqualified. 

  15. All fish must measure 12” in length. Any questionable fish will be measured at the weigh in to confirm by the tourney director.

  16. Each team can only weigh 5 fish 12” or bigger. 

  17. You cannot leave tournament waters or your boat for any reason. All anglers must stay in their boat while fishing.
